Q & A with Wayne Robbins, Placencia Hotel & Casino, Belize

Nov 3, 2016

We spoke with Wayne Robbins, President at the Placencia Group, to get his insight into buying property and living in Belize.

Q Why is Belize, and areas such as the Placencia Peninsular in particular, an attractive destination for foreign buyers?

A Location, Location, Location

The New International Airport being built on the Placenica Peninsular is most significant.  Not only will the International Airport increase accessibility but land values will also increase significantly.  Therefore your purchase of a home or condo will increase substantially.

In addition the Placencia Peninsular is only a short boat ride away from the new Harvest Caye (90 AC private island port) development by Norwegian Cruise Line part of a $400M development that has been bringing many large scale investors to the area. The first ship is scheduled to arrive November 17th 2016. Smart money is being deployed in and around the Placencia Peninsular making purchasing a home or a condo a win-win situation.

Q What sets Placencia Peninsular/Belize apart from more mainstream destinations such as the Caribbean islands?

A The short answer - the beauty of the peninsular. In one of a select few places of the world, the forces of nature have combined to create something truly extraordinary; The Placencia Peninsular, Belize………

Nature and experience, its bio diverse eco-systems consisting of Mayan Ruins, mountains, rivers, waterfalls and unspoiled beaches and breath taking cays.  The Placencia is just such a place where gentle and genuine people coexist in harmony with nature.

Q What kinds of properties are most popular and roughly how much would they cost?

A Both homes and condos are very poplar- they both offer lifestyle and return. The sweet spot for today’s buyer is:

Homes: from US$ 650,000 up

Condos: from US$ 300,000 up

Q Are there any restrictions that buyers should be aware of?

A There are no restrictions for foreigners purchasing homes or condos on the Peninsular. Purchasing real estate is like purchasing in the U.S or Canada and therefore very straight forward.  Belize is part of the British Commonwealth Law and the major language is English.

Q What advice would you offer to potential buyers looking at purchasing a property in Belize?

Good purchases begin with good information…. Do your homework and deal with someone reputable.  As a people person and a managing member of The Placencia Group and my ten years in Placencia, I am a great source of information regarding "Why the Placencia Peninsular and Why Belize, and Why Now Is The Time To Purchase A Home Or Condo"

Being passionate about what one does will help me answer your questions. At the end of your information gathering and visit to the Peninsular, I want you to go from dreaming about a better life overseas… to actually living it, in a place that suits you, given your own interests, priorities and preferences.

The Peninsular has something for everyone. At the end of the day You should be able to Picture Your Life"
